Used Blue dot CCT - should I buy?

Just bought a 2005 FJR ABS with 47000 kms. Checked the CCT and there is no blue dot so definitely the original piece. Looking through ebay I found an updated CCT from a 2010. To me the improved cct should last the bike's lifetime so any worries about buying used? Or should I run away screaming?

Run. I would never put a used CCT in any bike, but that's just me. If you have to ask, then you already know you're gambling.

Nope! New In Box is the only way to go. I'd buy a new CCT gasket too, while ordering.
The risk of a used CCT far outweighs any possible savings, there.

My 2007 CCT is still original and working fine. 35K miles. Should I consider replacing it?

You may get indications of a rattling noise on the right side, or you may not. Insurance. Do it yesterday, cheaper than a grenaded engine.

For the effort spent swapping them, why cheap out?

Ridden wet. Put up hard.

OK newbie here with what may be a stupid question... what's a CCT? Sounds like something I need to inspect while shopping for an
FJR.

EDIT: Never mind, I just found it in a search, Cam Chain tensioner.

Someone will correct me if I get this wrong, but I believe that the CCT issues are primarily an issue with the Gen I and early Gen II FJRs.

Whooshka,

The new CCT has a blue dot or green dot on it. The old version has no dot. Follow these links:
