To be honest I haven't noted what rpm mine idles at when initially started dead cold. I'll note it though on my next outing. I do know it must drop down fairly quick though as I don't let it run for more that a couple of minutes before taking off, and once warmed it always idles at around 1100. To venture off topic a bit, it never ceases to amaze me at how consistently the tranny seamlessly drops into first from neutral after starting. Brings a grin under my helmet every time.

I don't idle after starting. Start engine. Observe things are working, throttle is responsive. Ride off moderately. But sometimes confused a couple miles from home the idle is still high.
