They should be snug. FJR grips fit over standard 7/8"/22mm bar, OD likely 1.25?? Cruiser bikes fit over standard 1" bars, so bigger. Soap and water might help to slip them on. You could even use the old compressed air trick to "inflate" them and they may slip right on.

Grip Buddies, better. Adhesive strip, wrap on and velcro at joint. Put the joint where your fingers aren't. A couple of thicknesses available, I recommend the Lite size. The thicker ones are more like same size as the foam grip puppies..

Way8lifter,

I use a rubber band to hold a bunch of new Ty-Wraps, going down the length on the grip, and spread the Ty-Wraps out side-by-side until the grip is fully covered by the Ty-Wraps, all the way around. Put the "head" ends of the Ty-Wraps at the front end of the handlebar grip. Past the end of the handlebar grip, I tie all of the loose ends of the Ty-Wraps together with a small rubber band. Then I can slide the foam grip into place on the handlebar grip. The Ty-wraps will act as guides, and lubricant.

When I have the foam grip in place, I remove the rubber bands, then pull out the head end of each Ty-Wrap toward the front, one by one, leaving the grip in place. I would not use lubricants or water for the installation, because I have heated grips. All of your Ty-Wraps are still like new, too.
.

Cheers,
Red

I now suffer from arthritis and get painful knuckles after a while of gripping the throttle, but no vibration problems.

On my last bike, as an interim measure to help with this and faced with a trip through the Picos Mountains in Northern Spain, followed by a few days in the Pyrenees Mountains Spain/ France border, I taped a length of electrical cable along the throttle grip, so that it sat beneath the middle of my fingers.

This enabled me to relax my grip yet still have control over the throttle. It’s a tip picked up in the ‘70,s whilst I rode motocross

I’ve just ordered some gel grips with really pronounced lumps all over their length, hoping not to have to resort to electric cable and tape again.

My FJR came with grip puppies already installed, but I put them on my '17 GSA with soapy water (dish detergent) in just a few minutes. Did not interfere with the heated grips. You might want to determine the desired length and cut them off prior to installation. Remove the end weights/sliders prior to installation.

I use the 1.25-1.45" Grab-ons. Half price of Grip Buddies and for me last about the same. I wear out the left side 2x the right. So I buy 3 sets. Install one pair. Replace left when it wears out in 10-15,000 miles. Then in theory replace both when the 2nd left wears out. And have a spare for when that left wears out. Then repeat.

They are supposed to be tight, that is how they stay on. During their life you will probably have to slip them back up 1/4" to 1/2" as they creep off.

I got them on last night ( think they are grab on .. not puppies
had to trim down a LIP on my grips ( heated .. but just trimmed off the lip ..soap got it on ,
the throttle side was much much harder ..had to cut 3 relief notches to get them on ..with the hand guards and bar weights it looks fine ..feels soo much better
( I too have arthritis in both thumbs and the next 2 fingers ..so this is better
