Exhaust interchangeability

Does anyone know if Gen I pipes will fit on a Gen II?

Curious if some are more restrictive that others? Or was all that done on the header as the years passed?

I think all same restrictive-wise. Cats in the headers these days overdesigned (in a larger collector box) to flow a little more than goes into them. Some brands of bikes (ST1300, e.g.) have cats in the first part of the muffler, so aftermarket pipes will be much lighter and don't usually have cats.
FJR mufflers have a couple of baffles and a coupla perforated tubes, all pretty much equal. Aftermarkets are straight thru.

They may be interchangeable but they are not all the same, from 2013 on the ends had slots instead of holes.

Does this apply to all aftermarket exhausts as well? I have always loved the tone of the Two Brothers, but they say 2006 up on their website. I called them and they couldn't guarantee fitment for my 2005.

Thanks
David
