6 speed in 5 speed gearbox

hi
ever since the 2016 fjr 6 speed came out, i been thinking is it possible to fit a 6 speed gearbox in to a old 5 speedbox
i have been looking at the parts diagrams for a long time and i cannot see any difference in the crankcase for the
5 speed to the new 6 speed
to make a long story short, i went along and got my hands on a 6 speed gearbox, shifter drum and middle gear
i took the engine apart, the old gears out
the new 6 speed went inn very easy, i just have to grind a little in the casing to make room for the bigger gear wheel
on the left hand side of the
so now i have a fjr 2005 with a 2010 engine and with a 6 speed gearbox
some may ask why is he doing all this, it was easyer to buy a new bike with 6 speed
the answer is i like to do things like this, i have a background with harley davidsons where i use to change things like this

Wow, that awesome. Can't believe you did it.

How much did the upgrade cost you?

I would like to do it for my 5 speed 2014 FJR A and see how it turns out

So you've started a new group! you are the owner of a transGEN FJR! Haha. A '06-Gen I, '10 motor-Gen II, and a 6 speed-Gen III. Paint gold wheels on and you'll have all 4 gen's!

Uh, why take the 6 speed engine apart? Why not put it in the 2005 chassis?

Well you did it because you could and wanted to, now you will find out if you should have?

Reliability? Lets see how it is in 20k miles, i hope its fine.

Now one more what have you achieved when the 5 speed is not lacking and the 6 speed gives you, well not much extra?

yes polar you are absolutely right, time will tell if i did the right thing :-)
the simplest way was to put a 2016 engine in the bike, but that was not an option, because the donor engine was damaged beyond repair

I wonder if the "neutral" indicator switch will still work correctly? Not a big deal I suppose but it would be cool if you are lucky enough for that to still function.

Yes, it's okay to live your life like there's no tomorrow, just don't FĶ mine up while your doing it.

Wow - job well done! I assume the neutral indicator still works, but does your bike also have a gear indicator? If so, how does it work with the extra gear? I also noticed the Danish newspapers

The 2016 neutral switch is a different part number, would have to sense 6 positions instead of 5... don't see why you couldn't replace the switch... EXCEPT, you have nothing to display it on.... need Gen3 dash I'd think, unless the Gen2 dash has a secret feature....
I assume Neutral display would still work and gears up to 5, but really should let the OP tell us....
