six speed question

Hi,
I have a 2018 A, my fourth FJR but my first six speed. When I shift into either 4th, 5th or 6th, sometimes I feel two "notches" while going into gear. Doesn't always happen, but when it does, it doesn't matter whether I "pre-load" or not. It probably happens about 50% of the time. Not sure if this is normal or a glitch. Anyone experience this? I know have 3800 miles on her.

Bike runs great, just came back form a 1900 mile trip to Virginia. Bike ran flawlessly except for the turn signal started to stick but I think that may be from some crud that got in there. Is it okay to spay some wd-40 in there?

Thanks for all your responses.
Dave

When that happens you didn't make a solid shift into the prior gear.

Odd as it sounds I find 2 things affect the way my FJR shifts: my choice of boots and motor oil.

Mine doesn’t shift any differently than my 5-speed did.

Yes same thing on my '17ES, tried mineral and full synthetic, makes no difference, the only thing I noticed is it happens more often when I shift to 4,5,6 "early" and at lower speed, say at 80kph I shift to 5 or 6. Also the "2 step upshift" is not happening when the motor oil is not to a full operating temp, after starting the bike for the first time in a given day, meaning cooler / thicker oil helps the 2 step upshift 4,5,6 gears.

Garage
They make electrical contact cleaner that is available at most auto parts stores. It will be a better option than WD40 for your switch.
