Question remove lower right fairing on 2005

Do I have to remove the battery to access additional screws to get the lower right fairing off. I'm preparing to do the
CCT replacement. Good info here about the replacement, I just need info to get that fairing off.

I'll answer my own question. No, I got it off without needing to remove even the dash panels.

Let us know how that goes. I also have an 05 and need to at least inspect it to see which color dot it has. Hopefully it's already been swapped out. Hey better yet, where do you live. You can do mine too!

I'm going to rant a bit...... this is one item you do not procrastinate on if you have '07 and earlier. If it does not have a dot, get it changed. A few minutes to lift the tank and have a peek. It's been mentioned how many times on all the FJR forums? What's your bike worth with a blown engine or what do you think it costs for a replacement engine? A new CCT is cheap insurance.

We recently had an anomoly where an '08 grenaded from a bad CCT, no warning..... I feel for that guy.
OK rant over, sorry for being an asshat.

RayXerman, there are some things that can go back for no other reason than its there, you know my track record, none of use wanted this, but we live and learn. I going to look into a new tensioner and chain for my 06 fjr with 162,558km, I think of it as prevention better than cure.

I'm sitting here in NC not far from the Dragon waiting for UPS and my new CCT. I just turned 92,500 miles on the original CCT, should have changed it years ago. I got lucky, at start-up in front of my RV it made the most horrendous noise I've ever heard then two minutes later it quieted down to normal. The bike had been setting for a week in the toyhauler and I guess the CCT plunger got stuck. Guess I should attend church on Sunday for my good fortune. Haven't opened the cover to inspect the chain but can't imagine anything else would have made that loud of a noise so I just ordered a new one. I already broke the two bolts loose so I'm ready for the job to start.
