Absolutely understand the mechanics perspective. He must deal with some interesting situations from some unusual bike owners. It is my plan to stay on his happy side. I am sure I will need his services again and he absolutely knows his stuff.

Just a bit of a bear in attitude, fortunately he was tempered with me. Out of the 3 times I spoke with him the first was probably the frostiest. I bought the bike to him without the fairings and side panels and a bunch of issues. He was probably thinking oh my what am I in for?

I think a six pack of red India pale ale will help. Due to drop some down next week.

Regards,
Dave

Happy to hear this is fixed and that it did not require a complete teardown. Thanks for keeping us all posted.

Have tested TPS - fine

Does not sound like CCT, have listened to various videos.

Help......

Hi Dave, I have exactly the same clunk from my 04 FJR, Have you had any luck identifying the cause?

Hi ScotchBloke,

As Rayzerman said - see post #51. Bike is running perfectly since this work was done. I have done a 1500 km ride since and can say that it is running perfectly still and is sublime to ride.

Let me know if you have any other questions and best of luck.

Regards,
Dave

My 2008 emits this clunk at start-up from a cold start and only once at each cold start. This has been ongoing for 3 years and the problem has not escalated so I have done nothing about it, now that you have clearly identified the problem I will get by spanner man onto it next time the bike goes in for a service. Huge thanks for sharing your experience with us on this issue.
