I bought a set of helibars off eBay that came with the extra riser bblocks. Which I plan on putting on top of the heli plate was wondering if there brake line extension is long enough or will I have to get a whole new line . This was a used set with no hardware included.
Are you saying that it came with the brake line extension? Is this the riser plate that requires swapping the ignition switch?
If you have that brake line extension it should be plenty long enough. I know for a fact that with the later HeliBar Bridge the extension is not even necessary if the bars are left in the full forward position.
This is the one that you see on heli site the single plate for the 2006 models and up it came with additional riser blocks but no hardware or brake line I was wondering if I add those extra riser blocks on top of the factory heli plate will the extension be long enough. I thought those extr blocks were from heli and they sad they don't make anything like that for the fjr so they must be gen mars they are 1 inch high
The GenMar risers were/are 7/8ths of an inch. The MCL blocks were a full inch.
If you have the Helibar Bridge which is the current offering, are you aware that it is adjustable? I would recommend starting with just the bridge and then deciding if you need to add the blocks on top of that. I say this because the HeliBar Bridge is a HUGE, HUGE change from the stock position. I have done this install on 3 different FJRs and not once did we move the bars to the full rearmost position. In fact both Pop and I are running them in the full forward position.
The brake line extension is necessary for the Helibars Bridge.
I too rotate the bars far forward with the Bridge. This makes the grips wider and with less sweep. I think the first thing other FJR people notice sitting in my FJR is the wider handlebars, and later the rear position.
Excessive handlebar sweep made GL1800 miserable. Didn’t like stock FJR sweep.

I have to disagree about the extension. I did not use it on my '15ES. I keep the bars in the full forward position and have absolutely no binding issues at all.
The only reason I tried it at all was that when we installed the bridge on Pop's '14A we noticed it might work but we installed the extension anyway. Afterwards we wished we had tried it. When we did my bike a few months later we decided to just try it.
If I were to start adjusting the bars backward there is no doubt I would have to either install the extension or get the longer aftermarket hose.
I added the risers to my Helibar setup and DID NOT have to put a new front brake hose on, the front brake extension that came with the helibars was plenty long enough. If I remember right I had to buy extra long bolts so I could attach the bars "through" the risers and this kept me from putting the little covers back on top of the bars as the new bolts did not have threads in the top for the screws that hold the caps on.
I tried the helibars with them swept back, since the idea of putting them on was to get my back as straight as possible. I HATED that, my wrists were in pain I felt like I had no control in the corners, and I felt like I was riding a chopper.
Moved them all the way forward and all is right with the world again.
I love the riding position with the Helibars and risers. I have fairly long arms so I am riding in the straight up position that I am most comfortable in.
For those of you that have the helibar plate and NOT the original helibar triple clamp, as described in the previous post, I installed LONGER bolts in order to put a set of RISERS on top of the helibar plate. I still have the original bolts that have the threads on top so you can install the caps on the handlebars. They are available to anyone on the forum who broke theirs, or for any other reason. LOL

All the differing answers make it clear as mud eh? Ignore any references to "Heli Bridge" or "HeliBar Bridge", if you have the entire top clamp for your '06 the word "bridge" does not apply to you.
What is the EXACT part number on your Heli Bar Clamp? It should be embossed right there on the part. That is the key, whether the part number contains an "-2" at the end or not. I can tell you this: I put the Heli non-02 model clamp (pullback only) then added 1" Genmar risers on and did NOT have to change, replace or modify any hoses or cables. NONE! If it makes you feel better, get the hose extension but it is not needed on my bike.
Also, if you do decide to extend the brake hose there are a few options:
A) get Heli's 3" brake extension. Some folks don't like seeing it, others it doesn't bother. 50/50.
2) post # 4 of this thread click ->>http://www.fjrowners.com/forums/9-fjr-technical/138218-double-risers.html is needed info for a replacement hose. Call the guy, mention FJR Owners Forum. The part can not be found on their website to order & he'll throw in a small discount for the mention.
3) have some other company custom make what you want.
I'm Kinda like the wife when it comes time to hang a picture in the living room. My fiend said the exact same thing Redfish said try just the plate first and then go from there. Would like it if someone could give me a hardware list of the bolts size and lengths for just the plate and the riser blocks also thanks will keep everyone posted on what I do
Seems there is confusion (at least I am) about which Helibar top plate you have. If the original, no risers, I know you don't have to extend brake or clutch. With the latest Helibar Bridge, you do if you don't keep the bars in the forward position.
Clutch line needs extending too if back from that.... just remove the screw that mounts the clip to the frame by the steering head.
If you have the original Helibar and use risers, the only way you're going to find out if you need extension is if you install them and try it.

From post #16 I'm judging that the OP does NOT have the top plate, he has the Heli Bridge, the fugly bolt on thing currently on the HeliBar website. It be so much easier for everyone if he could simply drag and drop a picture into a post. Maybe a link to the purchase site with a picture?
Lastly, don't know about anyone else but HeliBar has always been some of the most helpful people on the planet- why not call or email them? They have been known to send stuff free even .
