check engine light on

well I ran my bike on the center stand in gear now the check engine light is on. Is this something that will clear on its own with a bit of riding?
thanks

No (for -16), not likely anyway. When the bike is run (like you did, simulating being on a dyno) with the rear wheel spinning and the front not spinning, the puter says we have a problem. Thus....check engine light. The dealer is your only hope to kill the light.

ps.....if you spend too much time popping long wheelies, and let your front wheel stop spinning, stand by for check engine light action. lollol

Good luck!

Which bike have you got, perhaps put that in your signature line so we'll be able to help you further.

thanks for the info. its a 2015 fjr1300 btw

gary4565 03-17-2017 10:45 AM

When I did that with mine ( 2014 ), as soon as I rode the bike, it went off. Just saying.

thanks I will give that a try

It's most likely the ABS light !!! quite normal.
It's an easy way to test one ABS function !!!
Normally brings up an error 42, check with a diagnostic 07, always good to check and clear fault history, diagnostic 60 & 61.

PLEASE for Pete's sake, include what year your bike is in your signature or such a post is basically useless.

For an engine light light, there are about 8 specific faults that bring it up, none good ..... Buy A Manual

1. it is indeed the check engine light
2. I did update my signature line if you read all the posts you would see this
3. If you are just gonna chastise I would rather you not post.
thanks

I wasn't getting up you, but there are lots of newer members with no bike details.
Well I'll will not be posting off to you after this.

At the time of my post you did keep posting and you signature wasn't updated.

If you would have owned a Gen4 there would be nothing you could do, except waste your money visiting a dealer to fix.

Well you had better post off and plead and beg to find out the 8 faults the bring up the check light, have fun !

Bugger off !!!

Ken is just trying to be helpful, us old guys just like to narrow down the bike before posting up something for all generations...... check your owner's manual for "Instrument Controls and Functions", and if it is the check engine light, then you may see an error code displayed. You will need the FSM to describe the diagnostic function where you can view, test and clear codes. If you are getting a code, let us know which one and we can steer you further.
