First time over 100mph was with my g-father in his 56 Buick special, my g-mother would always fall asleep riding in a car and that buzzer was like an alarm clock to signal her giving the o'boy a ration for going so fast. G-pa got good though because he would reach up and give the setting knob a spin higher while she was sleeping so he could run the speed he wanted (100+) but once she woke up and realized what was going on there was h*** to pay,,,,,,, l sure miss those times !

[According to stories I've heard] When riding in the western outback where there are wide open spaces to see a long way in every direction and there are no guard rails, bar ditches, trees, towns, or other vehicles, [said person] can ride for so long and so fast that when [said person] has to slow down for the rare town's speed limit (usually 20 to 25 mph) it feels like the bike will tip over and [said person] should be putting down the side stand.

Ridden wet. Put up hard.

My first open road ride on my FJR, with throttle lock, was an indication that I will be needing some deep, self administered therapy to keep the speed under a prison sentence. This is so sad..

Have you seen the movie Cocoon? Here is the "official" description of the film:

When a group of trespassing seniors swim in a pool containing alien cocoons, they find themselves energized with youthful vigor.

The rest of the film plot goes something like this (so says me) :

The alien cocoons were found to contain Yamaha FJR 1300 motorcycles which the aged group confiscated. The trespassing seniors were pursued by law enforcement at high speed through the Sierra Nevada mountain passes, disappearing into a fog with faint sounds of giddy laughter fading in the distance.

Just sayin...........

If it has two wheels or a mainsail - I will pilot it.

True about the incipient speed increase.. In the big bend area of Texas it is particularly bad. Your supposed to be doing 80 mph and you look down and your going 115 instead and can not tell the difference, until you leave the highway for a pit stop and it seems at 55 the dang bike is going to fall over unless you put both feet down to stay up right.

In '79 and '80 I endurance raced and would go run just as fast as I could stand to go all day then have to drive back home. The drive home was agony.

Just keepin' up with traffic, Officer.

Thanks for letting us know that there actually is something wrong with this bike. I have been so frustrated about this increasing speedo thing since I got it in april, and worst of all my wife at the back keeps blaiming me

You must really be carryin' the mail in that golf cart

My wife has dragged me kicking and screaming into RVing, and it takes all the self control I've got to hold it at 65. Above 65 I spend more time in gas stations than I do moving.

Just keepin' up with traffic, Officer.
