passenger back rest

Can you get a back rest for an 05 fjr w/ factory seat or do you have to buy an after market seat w/back rest

I've seen the Ventura style luggage system with just a backrest fitted, like the bike limos in London use.
At this website http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race....ra-systems.php you can see the rack system but they don't seem to stock any back rests to go with it.

Go the FJR Forum, one of the member built custom rack and backrest adaptor, many options.

Look for Garraud

Garraud does indeed build a very nice back rest. I bought one last year and the wifey likes it quite well. It's also easy to install & remove and does so quickly. I believe it was around $150.00 or what ever that equates to in pounds for you Limeys.
