I have a Bill Mayer saddle. Mostly, I chose Rocky cuz he's local to me and I really wanted to do a ride-in fitting. I'm glad I went the route because I believe the fitting makes all the difference in the world. Since, I've read of many of Rick's seats going back for adjustment and other minor service issues and I know of only one Rocky seat going back.
The other thing to consider is, Rick's business is a part time thing. IIRC, his main source of income is from being a nurse or such. Rocky's full time gig is in saddles with employees 'n stuff. Okay, he prolly makes a few bucks from all the avocados on his property, but they're pretty much a hands off crop until harvest.
Both Rocky's and Rick's seats are the outcast children of the Russell design. Their dad was the originator of the Day Long and sold that business years ago.
