Yamaha YES Extended Warranty / Insurance

I am curious just trying to get a poll, how many people have actually purchased the additional Yamaha YES extended warranty?

I purchased my new 2015 FJR1300ES less than a month ago, but did not opt for the YES warranty/insurance. I am curious if it is worth it...?

Also, can I add the YES warranty / insurance even after I have purchased the motorcycle?

Thank you -- Cameron

I am also considering it's purchase, as my 1 year warranty runs out here in about 10 days......and my ignition switch is starting to act wonky......

I included the YES in my purchase price and have not really used it but thankfully have had no real problems.

I purchased my ES in September....and just purchased the YES warranty from D&H Cycles in Alabama based on the recommendations on this forum. The cost was $389 for four years.

Historically I have not been an "extended warranty" kind-of-guy, and likely would not have bought it if I had purchased the standard model, but with electronic suspension control and high-duty-cycle stepper motors controlling the damping and rear preload, it is a smart call. One problem with electrics or even the labor to take apart the forks could cost more than the warranty itself.

I understand that we have up to one year after purchasing the bike to purchase the YES (i.e. before the standard warranty runs out), but I figured I would lock it in now so I have a full 5 years.

Just my 2 cents Enjoy the bike!

I also included the YES, "hope I don't ever need it" but, I have a Ford F250 Power stroke and in the first 5 years the engine had to be pulled out twice for oil leaks also, one rear main seal and a few other miscellaneous dealer trips so my 6 year 60K mile extended warranty that only cost me $800.00 saved me literally thousands, so for me it is "extended Warranty". I know its a Ford and not a Yamaha but I feel much safer..

YES I bought the YES because of the Electronics on the machine. Mechanics I am not worried about, however troubleshooting even the smallest Electronic problem will be time consuming and will pay for the YES if it comes to that.

Not many dealers will offer you YES at that price....
For all the new components in the ES - its worth having the state of mind in case of a failure.

In my opinion it is cheap for you Americans, so buy it. Up here in the Great White North, it is 3 times as much and IMHO not worth it...... and I am not an extended warranty kind of guy......

I purchased the YES warranty from my local dealer after they agreed to match the price that D&H was selling it for (4 yr warranty). Both local dealer and D&H wouldn't do the warranty on a credit card d/t the fees. Lady at the local dealership that does the warranty/paperwork told me what they made off of this for the $389 price and it ain't much. D&H being a small dealership probably sells enough of the warranties at this price so the small profit that they make adds up.
I bought the YES warranty just a couple of days before the 1 yr warranty ran out - it is my understanding that you cannot buy the YES warranty if your original warranty has expired.
