New PR4GT front tire. Replaced T31 GT with 9,487 miles. A personal record for a front tire.

Contacted Traxxion and started the ordering process.

Curious why you're not going with another T31 GT. Is it because of the antennae tread on your last one or did you feel that it wasn't performing sufficiently.

Good question. Dates back farther than that. In January my T31 GT rear developed a leak I couldn't find and fix. Gave up in February ordering a set of PR4GT as I have had 5 other rear tires and 7 fronts since the prior PR4GT.

Had no complaints about handling of the T31 GT rear but was shocked at how happy I was with the PR4GT rear. I don't know, maybe it is squishy and squirmy and I like that or something? But I really like the combination of PR4GT rear and T31 GT front. However, there was a new PR4GT front waiting in my garage from February so that was what I mounted this morning.

I didn't mention I had a problem mounting the PR4GT that I've never had with a motorcycle tire. A problem I've always had with car and trailer tires. Getting the initial seal on bead good enough to inflate to pop the bead on proper. The darndest thing Monday I mounted a PR4 on front of friend's 2014 FJR. It popped the beads into place at 10 PSI. On mine I ended up squeezing the bead back into the center depression, sprayed more water+NoMar lube, tried again and it worked. Found 22 PSI when the 2nd bead popped. Normally the PR4 is almost easy enough to mount without tools.

Then with great delight the tire seemed to be perfectly balanced using the previous wheel weight. Until I remembered my Garmin TPMS was not screwed on. Took one 7g off, put (2) 7g on at a different place. A place that still had a bit of tape residue from a previous tire. The PR4 on Monday took a single 5g weight even with a heavy $50 Amazon TPMS.

And for all that it was right at an hour from carrying the tools out to carrying the tools back inside.

Also have T30 Evo not-GT set waiting. Cycle Gear had sale, pair for $170, and Bridgestone had/has $40 rebate which I haven't figured out how to submit to their satisfaction.

I'll be interested in how you like PR4gt front. Presently I am still running the stock BT023 BattLax on the front of my 2016. I had to replace the rear at just 150 miles after new due to a large nail puncture. I replaced with PR4GT rear after some research and have been very pleased with its handling characteristics. My bike presently only has around 3,000 on the clock (purchased new left over stock Dec. 2018 ) and have no clue which way I'll go when she's ready for new shoes. Rear is wearing superb so far as is the front Bridgestone stocker. I run 42psi rear and 39psi front, cold. To date , I don't experience any detectable handling issues with the stock front tire paired with the Michelin. I ride moderately aggressive at times and so far I'm still quite elated with the way this machine inspires confidence. It's just a great bike.

I would put a T31 GT on the front. Cost an outrageous $105 from Rocky Mountain. Can't beat that with a stick (depending on how you get it mounted). My BT023 was bald at 6200 miles. Over 4 years ago I don't remember but think it was hard to push over into a turn towards end of life. IIRC the PR4GT front did that too. The T31 GT was a sweetie all the way to the end.

When replacing friend's bald PR4GT front with new PR4 had to send him 5 miles home on my FJR to fetch brake pads. He was amazed at my "power steering" on the worn T31 GT. I don't understand his animosity toward Bridgestone but he might overcome. He was the last to ride my T31 GT and came away impressed. I rode his for 15' on concrete, 150' on grass and knew it was awful. Then rode the new tire back around the house and knew it was a big improvement.

After I got Orion, I installed Metzeler RoadTec Z8 Interact Radials.

I have always used Metzeler tires on all my previous bikes and have been very happy with them!

Truth to tell, though, I have not challenged my skills to the level that I have in the past, and my chicken strips are still at about 7/8".

Still, I have all the confidence that these tires will remain under me, in most circumstances.

I am not a fan of the PR4 front, the tread pattern just begs for scalloping. I'd use almost anything else in combo with your favourite rear.

I had the same experience with PR4 GT front. Trying Pirelli Angel GT A Spec this time.

Brand new set of Pirelli Angel GT A Specs, lubed all the things (axels, brake components, foot pegs, controls), flushed clutch fluid and brake fluid, and adjusted all of the suspension settings a couple of weeks ago. Nasty bouncing feeling at 80+ mph, so I ordered a wheel balancer. Well, today, I did the balancing and just got back. Smoother into 100. Still a buzzing feeling in my hands that I didn't have with the stock Bridgestones, reminds me of going 80+ on my Ninja 300. I think I'll play with the suspension settings next. I see most have the preload on the front nearly all the way "in", mine was on 8-9 "out" on the Bridgestones so I did make that change. I may back it off a bit and see if that changes any of the feeling on the slab. Unfortunately, most of my riding is boring highway, so perhaps I shouldn't set up for a Tail of the Dragon run every day... right?
