Motorcycle shipping experience anyone?

I'm looking at possibly buying an FJR that's in another state. Anyone have experience with shippers and/or have recommendations? What cost should I budget for? I'm figuring about $500.

Are you buying sight unseen or have you had someone nearby inspect the machine? Is it possible to fly there and ride it back or take a trailer and haul it home yourself? Just a couple of possiblities. You have'nt listed what states or distance. Good luck with your purchase.

This. It's not just a logistical issue, the problem is buying it without inspecting it. What you see in pics is almost never what you get, unless it's brand new and has a guaranteed warranty. I've bought out of state 3 times and did the fly-and-by and wouldn't hesitate to do that again. Be careful with buying sight unseen.

Motorcycleshippers.com

Over the years I have purchased two brand new motorcycles out of state, my 2005 Suzuki SV1000S and most recently my 2017 FJR ES, the FJR purchased exactly three years ago in Wisconsin, while I live in Texas.
Have used this motorcycleshippers.com service on those two occasions with zero issues. Cost from WI to TX about $700 with insurance costs included.
They did take over a week to deliver it because I live right at the border with Mexico, at the end of I-35, so they probably rarely drive all the way down to the southern border, other than that, bike arrived in perfect showroom condition, as promised by the carrier and the dealer.
Highly recommend.
Cheers,
Daniel

I've used uShip.com twice. Got good shippers both times. When you list your bike the website will give you an estimate. Covid has thrown that off. I paid $800 New Hampshire to San Antonio in July.

I had a new K1200RS shipped from FL to IN by Keyboard shipping. I would definitely use them again. IIRC, it was $500.

I used Uship once and haulbikes once - https://haulbikes.com/

Both good. Uship was quicker as it was on a major corridor from California to Seattle.

Haulbikes was from Tennessee to Seattle. No bites on that route when I listed it on Uship so I ended on using Haulbikes

I appreciate all the inputs. Yes, it would be sight unseen. The bike is in Alabama and is listed on the forum. I'm in south Texas. I haven't contacted the seller yet. Flying out and riding back is an option, it's just a logistical and cost issue. I may still opt for that plan.

Gotta be fly out and ride back.....if worst comes to worst, you can turn on yr heel and walk back to plane..at least you got a trip out of it...but if good, a great bonding opportunity to get it together with yr new baby...
