I would never advocate trying Sakcrete on a rear rack... back seat OK.... Have the Givi rack, the new aluminum rack, or a stiffy kit. I like the aluminum rack, it looks pretty robust, see pic with its steel reinforcing brackets.

Yamaha has a thing with weight reduction, so the aluminum castings aren't as robust as we might like... the mirror stay on Gen3 is very thin and fragile. The rear subframes are not any better than previous years. Remember this bike is lighter than a Honda ST which was "overbuilt" in my opinion, but nobody has broken one of those that I know of.

Was that seriously included on the bike or did that straddle the shot by accident?


I (securely) velcro strapped my tires onto my backpack and rode off the bike shop across town to have them mounted. Definitely the largest item I've hauled by backpack, but not the heaviest. I'll definitely look forward to having the bags with an FJR purchase.
