It was raining a little this morning, but I don't mind riding in the rain. I was riding 2-up with my daughter, and we stopped at a restaurant. I was going to back into a parking spot, so I drive sideways into the spot and was going to use my feet to back up and straighten it out. Apparently this lot had been resurfaced recently, and the asphalt was slick as gorilla snot! I don't even remember my foot slipping. It was like I put my foot down and the ground wasn't there. I didn't even have a chance to try and catch it. We're just suddenly on the ground and my FJR is sleeping on its right side.
After ensuring my daughter was OK, I snapped a picture and picked it up. The damage isn't too bad, but still frustrating. Some light gouging on the saddle bag, and some scratches on the front fairing. If you weren't looking for the scratches, you wouldn't even see them on the front fairing.
But here's the most frustrating part. I'd been thinking lately of practicing some slow speed skill courses, so I ordered some T-Rex crash bars. The crash bars are literally in the mail on the way here! If this happened 3 days later, it would have been fine! Dammit!
Between the beaches and the mountains
Yeah, the meal was more about taking time to sit and calm down, than it was about eating. My daughter was shaken up but physically unhurt. She got back on the bike with me to ride home, so it wasn't too traumatic. Yes, the FZ-1 mirror folded right up like it should. No problems there.
That ain't never happened to me . Never .
But I do have a 'friend' ( wink , wink ) that dropped his in the garage ...... The dummy .
OTOH those red ones always seem to be sleeping on the job .
Sure hope the daughter doesn't have any problem going on the next ride .
Gotta be a bit upsetting as a helpless passenger .
After 3100 miles ( AND HITTING A DEER WITHOUT GOING DOWN) I pull into my brothers place ..he says " it's raining pull into the garage " .. As my rear wheel hits the cement he says be careful U put a coating on it ..BAMMMMmmm I am down ... thank god for the Givi saddle bags I had ..saved the day
