Happy Anniversary "Big Blue"

It was 2 years ago today that I took delivery of my 2018 A FJR affectionately known as "Big Blue"

So far it has been exemplary. No issues (knock on wood) other than me dropping it while turning around in a gravel parking lot of my first out of state trip, but that wasn't the bike's fault.

29, 350 miles as of last night's ride.

Been ridden almost daily in all 24 months. Ridden from single digits to 100 degrees. Sun, rain, snow, wind, hail you name it, and it's been ridden in it.(except ice, I won't ride if there is ice)

Has had 8 oil & filter changes (Yamalube 10w40 and Yamaha filter)
4 rear end oil changes (Yamalube Shaft Drive Oil 80w90)
Tires at 6,342 13,642 and 23,401 (Michelin PR4GT's)
Got Kurvy Gurl 83 degree valve stems at first tire change
added Soupy Lowering links @ 15,400 (lowered 1/2" in rear and 3/8" in front
and got steering head bearings checked and tightened at 3,100 miles

Goes in this Friday to have clutch and brake fluids changed, air cleaner, spark plugs and brake pads if it needs them. Lube all the pivot points and maybe change out the coolant, (haven't decided on that yet ... recommendation?)

Pics from yesterday's ride

At 70 yo I'm guessing this will be my last "big" bike. Hope it will run over 100K trouble free miles like my ST 1300 did.

So far, so good

Looking great Ferret, Here's to enjoying your FJR for many, many years to come!

ps- my opinion on the coolant...I think I'd leave it for another year or two.

I'd leave the coolant for valve check time... you can test it with a voltmeter, Google that.

Nice bike and nice pics! I've heard really good things about the longevity of a well cared-for FJR. I'm betting you two have many good years left together. Keep having fun!

Since the tank will be up anyway for spark plugs, I'd change the coolant

Congrats on the Anniversary! Nice to see someone else who enjoys using the cam to take great photos. Don't know about you but I record all my rides from a safety stand point and if there is some worthy footage I will make a video and/or make some snapshots from it. Great photos, thanks for sharing them. Hope to still be riding at 70 in 5 "Life is Too Short Years" When I have to hang up they keys, I will at least have lots of videos and photos to remember the good ole days

Ahh the Viaduct!

I don't take vids, just snapshots with a point and shoot digital on a lanyard around my neck.

I used to video my big game hunting trips and came to realize I never watched them. Then the VHS format disappeared and waa laa ... now I couldn't watch them if I wanted too

I am just surprised that more riders do not use Gopro's/Action cams as a safety device like many of us do with dash cams. So easy to stick a 128g card in there and let her run all day. First and foremost, if something happens to you good or bad you have a record of it. Secondly as I mentioned you can make high Rez photos from the footage like I shared here. I make videos for friends occasionally if the trip was worthy of it as well. It is tons o fun.

Man Ferret, VHS??? Holy Cow my man. Here I am talking about using the latest technology and your talkin about the day VHS died which left you hanging? I am at a loss for words on that which does not happen often. I guess we are 5 years apart on 2 different planets. I converted all my VHS tapes to CD years ago. Anyway, Best of luck with your bike and congrats.
