I just bought an '05 FJR (and after just a week I'm completely in love with it). I started looking for a forum where I could ask questions and hopefully get to know some other FJR owners, and, hey, I found this one quickly. So, hi everyone!

I saw David's post and couldn't help but laugh - I had no idea I'd bump into someone who just bought an FJR that was the same year model as mine. David, I hope you're enjoying yours as much as I am mine!

So, a (tiny) bit about my bike... I traded in my '04 FZ6 to get it, in part because I wanted something my wife would actually be willing to get on. The catch is, I don't have a backrest yet. I also want a trunk (the saddle bags are a bit small), so I'm looking for a trunk with the backrest on it already. I'd prefer to have the factory model, but I'm not completely set on it. I've looked around and realized that finding a trunk for an '05 isn't going to be easy, so I'm hoping y'all can help me out a bit.

1. Any thoughts on good places to look for a bag that fits an '05?
2. What year ranges are compatible with my bike? I have no idea of how much (or little) wiggle room I've got here.
3. Any body here in Central Ohio? I'm hoping to catch up IRL with some other FJR owners.

Thank you for any helpful advice you can offer, and catch y'all later!

HOLY COW! Not only are you coming up to my neck of the woods, you're heading to my hometown! My family's Yamaha/Honda/Polaris dealership is about a mile from where you're staying. (Yes, I grew up with this stuff!) I just may have to join you to Huntington & back to Columbus (if you come back this way).

Iron Pony was mentioned (and here's the stupid part), but despite living in Columbus area for over 15 years, I've never been there. If y'all go that way, I just might have to join you.

Oh, and you were chuckling at Fort Gay. That's actually just across the river and a dogleg (or two) from my family's home. Not much exciting to see there, quite honestly. That said, I don't know if the old fort is still there or not.

I've definitely got to make some time for this. Looking forward to it!
How ya doing Jawa? I finally ordered a full compliment of goodies for my ‘05 last nigh. This bike is awesome for sure

Doing good, thanks! Glad to hear you're going on your bike. So far, I've been thrilled with my bike. I do need to sit down and check out that cam chain tensioner this weekend (3 days, woohoo!), and I've got new rubber on order (shifter cover, footpeg covers, etc) as that needs replaced, and the bags are going to need some TLC, maybe a repaint.

I've got family down your way; next time in the area, would you mind if got a hold of you and maybe take a little spin?

Just realized... I guess I oughta post some pics of my new toy... I'll have to do that before too long.

So how about you though? Obviously you're happy with the bike, but how's life treatin' ya?

Have fun, and have a good 4th!

Unfortunately, I no longer have my 2005.

But I kept plenty of the bolt-on's in galaxy blue like a GIVI V56 top trunk with LED brake kit installed and the mounting plate and rack. Most passengers lean their back against the top trunk if they have a back protector and my wife rode that way comfortably.

Check the Bike Parts For Sale USA section as you can upgrade you seat and other parts as well. PM if interested.
Hello JT, what engine guard is installed in that picture?

Thanks

Definitely hit me up when you come down. Send me a pm and I’ll give you my info. What shifter covers did you order?

Been thinking about some as well, but trying not to go over board on “customization” like I did with my last one. I have been trying to contact MC Enterprises with no luck for their cages.

What I’ve bought for mine so far : white carbon fiber look tank protector, MFW Vario drop peg set for me ( but I forgot to order the rear pegs so they would match ), got lucky and saved a lot of money on a bike lift $250 would have preferred to have the same lift I originally had so may buy another later on but it was almost $900, and I bought a used Corbin seat that has the back rest for the passenger for $200. I can always send it back to Corbin for new skin, but I really love the looks of the Sellerie seats from over seas, cost cutting measure for now between the seat and lift.

On the right side of the tank you will see that thin sliver of black plastic. I was able to lift it up and use a flashlight to see if the cct had a blue or green dot, but mine did not, so that’s how I know I have to change mine out. In the mean time I’m not riding hard rarely even hitting 7k revs for now, usually stay about 5k, can’t wait to wick it though.

I'm pretty sure the MC Enterprises has closed up.

JT I also forgot to ask just how bright that clear led turn signal you had on yours was. I’m on the fence between the clear and the smoke lens led

Thank you

David,

Just my opinion, but there is no way I'd want smoke lenses on any bike lights.
No matter the looks; I want those lights and signals to be seen.
.

Ditto. I added LED lighting in the rear to be seen better. What's the point of darkening the lenses? I see the smoke lenses often on people's pickups and Jeeps and think it's not smart.
