Does anybody know... is the OEM passenger grab bar/rear rack on the 2014 fjr the same as the assembly on the ‘08? Are the two interchangeable? Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn’t waste 1minute of my time on that plastic piece-o-crap, I’d buy (I did) the Yamaha heavy aluminum rear rack just because it helps support the terribly weak rear subframe delivered oe...... resolves a lot of problems,,,,,,,but that’s just me.

Could you post a pick of your aluminum rear rack please?

Thank you
David

Took this pic of what I understand is the optional aluminum rack. Note, way better support for the rear subframe with steel reinforcement brackets and additional attach points. Looks quite robust..... I think this is the pic you're really interested in...... perhaps another user can confirm....

Yes, that's the FJR optional rear rack. Very sturdy.

I swapped out the OEM with the upgraded aluminum on my 09. If you go this route just be aware that you will have to shave a little plastic to make the new rack fit. Mine came with a template that showed me where to trim. No biggie, really. just a little trimming is all.
