I have Russell Day Long (RDL) and a Laam. I like them both but the RDL would be my first choice. It accommodated my unfortunate weight gain a little better than the Laam.

Yepper, my opinion is either a RDL or a Laam, I have a Laam with no complaints.

with the russell day long what change in riding style is there?can you effectively still roll into turns with your body sliding on the seat.from pictures on the russell daylong seats it really cradles the butt.great for touring but not sure about cornering.any feed back would be appreciated.i am considering russell day long.great name im a Russell

Good question, I had the same concerns. I have a RDL for 3 years now. I have no issues whatsoever being aggressive in twisties and when I hit my favorite, switchbacks.....all day long! no pun intended. My chicken strips are 1/4 inch on my PR4's. It's a higher perch but I still lean over the seat, and it gives me a comfortable feel on the lean. I am not a racer, but I have no issues folding the bike down low on a hairpin. If anything, the RDL has eliminated my butt pain factor and allows me to better concentrate on tasks at hand.

I've never had an issue being aggressive with the RDL... they do make a sport version if you want to go that way.... which I think means it doesn't sit as high and MAYBE it's a bit flatter (you can ask them).

I have not used those seats you listed but I am 6' 3" and really like this used Sargent front with Helibar kit and lowering front pegs lets me ride for hours now with no cramps or butt burns now. Just a option to try.

rcbeastrider!.... if you are anywhere near the Maggie Valley Inn for the EOM event there will be plenty of bikes there with different seats to look at and sit on and talk about. Great event...

  1. Modified my stock seat to better fit daily riding
  2. Purchased a used RDL seat on eBay that raises me about 1.5" for a more upright position with legs more towards a 45 degree angle for longer rides
  3. Purchased a used Rich's custom seat on eBay that sit me low into the bike for sport riding
