Stopping to drink in the summer is never enough to keep ahead of dehydration (with or without meds). It's also an issue in the winter but isn't as quick to hit us. Start drinking water a day or two before the trip. Install a means to sip all the time while the bike is moving because waiting for a stop isn't often enough.

Ridden wet. Put up hard.

My doctor suggested Gatorade. Because fluids are not enough. It's the electrolytes too.

My first car was a motorcycle.

Meat,

Just a note, in case it needs to be said: dehydration causes a reduction in mental acuity, and that happens to people of any age, when dehydrated. Riding or not, it is something to consider, especially with medications. Pilots make a quick check on that issue by counting to 30 by threes. If there is any glitch, this process may help you to realize it. Use any process that works for you, on this issue.

Best wishes.

Red is there something a little easier than counting too 30 by 3ís. If Iím chewing gum and riding home at the same time this could give me a false reading?

Mooseman,

If you have a glitch, even when chewing gum, then I'd take a rest break and drink some water, ASAP.
Drinking from a water fountain does NOT count. You need cups full then, not sips, to stay ahead of the game.

Better to deal with the stops from ten false readings than having one real one that gets disregarded.
The road is really a life-and-death issue, these days. You can't control the idiots and fools out there,
but you can be as ready as possible for them.

I'm past my 70th birthday, and I'm seldom seen on the ground without a big water cup close at hand, even when watching TV.

All IMHO, of course.

Cheers,
Red
