Shorter Seat?

Hey folks. I am new to this forum and probably just can't find the thread on shorter seats. The 2016 FJR1300ES I just purchased has a custom seat that is a little tall for me. I am on the balls of my feet with the seat in the lower position. It is actually the original seat that was recovered for the previous owner that was 6'6". I have sat on an FJR with the Sargent seat and was basically flat footed and felt very stable. Any suggestions. I have attached a pic of the current seat. Thanks!
Chris

that is a russel . You would have no problem selling it or trading someone for a Sargent. Aftermarket corbins are cut quite low just fyi. Wish you were closer I would love to try it out.

You had me puzzled for a moment when I read the title of this thread. You mean a lower seat.

That is not a Russell.

That is a Terry Adcox Custom Seat build.

I spoke with Darren; the previous owner specifically about it, when Adcox was building my seat.

Chris,

As stated, the Corbin seat is generally considered the lower seat, but some think it is too hard. I tried one for a while, and it was fine by me. I ended up with a Russel Day Long seat, which is usually a rather tall saddle, but each one is custom, and I was lucky to find a good fit. There are four options to get flat-footed, which you can combine in any way that works for you: lower the seat, buy a thinner seat, lower the bike (suspension tricks), or bring the Earth closer ("waffle-stomper" boots). I use "light tactical combat boots" with convenient side-zippers, which also provide very good ankle protection. None of these choices are difficult, but by cost: the thinner seat costs more than thicker-soled boots, which cost more than lowering the bike, and lowering the seat is free. Try this:

Why change the world around you, one thing at a time? You can fix everything at once and be done.

Bounce,

Man, that is a horrifying medical procedure. Yeah, I know, it comes straight from the WWII Nazi death-camps (NO joke). Even if I needed it, I would never allow it on me.

I hope nobody here ever tries it. Once age catches up to you, hip fractures become more likely, and this procedure only makes things worse, on that score.

Cheers,
