Gen 5 FJR

Any ideas when the 5th Generation FJR will be available, and what features it will have?

What motivation does Yamaha have to change anything? Recent attempts with Venture and Eluder failed miserably. If there was not already an FJR there would not be one created as a new model.

The 2016 revision cost Yamaha deeply because they still new 2014 and 2015 units in crates in warehouses.

I would expect a 50-50% chance of dropping the model vs. 5th generation.

I wonder how I could buy a new 2014... and for how much?

Well..... they would first have to come out with a Gen 4 before they come out with 5! Unless they're Apple. Don't count on it anytime soon. Motorcycle technologies haven't changed much since the Gen 3 release.

Some technical circles consider the new transmission and LED lighting of the 2016+ to be gen IV. Thus discussion of what the gen V will look like.

I think many of us called the 6 speed a Gen 3.5... all good, call it a 4 if you like, but I'm kinda doubting we'll ever see a Gen5.

I saw the 2016 as Gen 4 and I expect itíll be at least a couple of years before we see any big change. What is it they say? If it isnít broken donít fix it!

My expectation is for them to go to a full TFT display and connectivity like BMW and KTM are offering on many bikes.
