Red face Engine Grey/silver Metalic

Hi Guys

I took the plunge and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 FJR1300A.

I need to do a little bit of tidying up as some of the engine casings have a bit of corrosion.

Mt question is does any one in the UK know where I can get this paint colour I'm ok with the silver, its the graphite metallic which is beating me at the moment.

Any advise much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum cozza.

Hope you enjoy the bike.

Try the net for bike painters locally who might be able to point you in the right direction.

Your Yamaha dealer can hook you up with touch up paint in either a pen or spray I believe. Or, Colorite may be able to do it. Shouldn't be too hard. Good luck.

Engine Cover Paint

Just a quick question.

Which engine covers can I remove and paint without loosing all my oil.

Ideally I want to remove the generator cover and the RHS pickup cover.

Cheers.

I did some touch up work on my BMW and found that as long as you are close it is nearly impossible to tell the difference. It is not like trying to match a patch in the middle of the wall. All the bike's surfaces look a little different because of curves, shadows and the like.

Yes I know what you mean, I would ideally like to remove them but I think they will stay in place and I'll mask them up as best I can and then blow them over.

I tried to find the engine yesterday but it's will in there he he.

I can see that someone has balanced the wheels and removed the old weights with a screw driver and scratched the paint, bloody amateurs

I've always had naked bikes in the past so I'm used to having all your bit's and pieces on show and polished......

I'll get there in the end.

Cheers.

Did you ever find a supplier of the paint colour for the generator casing? I need to do the ones on my bike.

Ta.

Park the bike on a level floor, on the center stand, then look at the oil level in the viewing window. That is the oil level in the rest of the engine. If the covers that you want to remove are above that level, then you are OK to remove them.
