Greetings from MinneSNOWta!
Just purchased a sweet 2014 FJR1300A model with 30K miles on her. Picked he up via Cycle Trader from a guy in Texas. Made the deal and had her shipped up North to the land of short Summers and riding seasons. The day after she arrived, it snowed 6 inches. I did get to ride her down to Iowa for an overnighter before she was put to bed for the long hard Winter ahead. Way back in 2014 when the RED FJR came out, I told myself that one day I would own one, and 6 years later, my dream was realized.
I've been riding since I was 17 when I bought my first Honda. It would be 8 years before I ever owned a car, which was a 1972 BMW 2002. At the time, I also owned a 1972 R75/5 motorcycle, so I was definitely heavily under the German influence. That old /5 took me to the top of Pikes Peak (back when it wasn't paved all the way to the top), 24 United States, and both coasts. But with only 60 HP, it was kinda under-powered on the highway. I stayed faithful to the BMW world for a few more models until I finally woke up and moved over to the wonderful world of Yamahas! I was, however, also heavily influenced by my two great riding buddies (both former BMW riders) who bought their own 2nd Gen FJR's and have sworn by them ever since.
Now with the FJR, I no longer suffer from lack of horsepower. And I haven't even tried out the "Ludicrous" mode yet, I guess Yamaha calls it the "Sport" mode. Anyhow, I have all Winter to order more farkles for the FJR, read the forums, and plan great rides for next year!
