Red face New owner of a 2016 FJR 1300 es

Hello
I am new to this forum & bought my first Yamaha FJR 1300 ES last week & had never ridden one before this purchase .I have ridden 1000 kms since the purchase ,my last sport tourer was 2015 Kawasaki Concours & find the bikes very similar but the yammy being lighter & less top heavy also being 5'9" I can now have my shoes almost flat on the ground when stopped .This bike came with a Seth Laam touring seat which I find very comfortable and it fits so good it's almost as if they measured my behind and custom built to suit ,also the bike came with a Yamaha touring windshield which does a great job of blocking wind and avoiding turbulence around the helmet .In it's highest position I am looking through the windshield about 4" from the top ,also when lowered it goes way below the field of view allowing full wind .Being 67 years I decided to purchase a set of Helibars handlebar risers to ease the pressure on the shoulders and be able to ride in a more upright position ,yesterday I ordered on line a set of Helibars ,they were shipped yesterday by Fedex & arrived in Calgary midday today ,great service from Helibars & Fedex. It took four hours to install the system & that's due to the fact I took my time and followed the instructions to the T ,the product fit & finish is of hi-quality ,the instructions were clear & easy to follow . I took measurements before & after the install & found that handlebars were exactly as they claimed in the Middle location: 1" (25mm) taller** 2 1/4" (57mm) rearward** 11/2" (38mm) wider than original width* very satisfied with the purchase .
One thing I have noticed when riding the bike @ cruising speed it seems to have a whine ,although not loud enough to block out the sound of the engine ,when I squeeze the clutch or roll off the throttle it goes away ,just wandering if this is normal for these bikes .So far really enjoying the bike & looking forward to some long days in the saddle .

Paul, congrats and welcome to the club, me on my second FJR it's that good of a bike. Here is a bit of reading on the "whine" phenomenon :-) , we'll compare notes when I see you around, Cheers Damir

Had a 2013 and then had to have a 2016 because of the color! Long story short, I loved everything about the 2016 except the gear box whine. Happy to report that after 10K miles it was much quieter than new and I now have 45K on it and virtually NO whine.

I love this bike!

Paul welcome ! The whine is normal but as Chuck says miles make it much quieter unless of course you’d have bought one of the candy cow-pie 14’s ,,,,, then the whine would’ve been constant on wanting the US model fastest color red !..... then the whine would never go away....🤔🤔🤔😜😜😜

I got the bike with 25,123 kms ,15,701 m , I don't imagine the whining will go away just don't want it getting any louder .The other day I bought some earplugs which I have never used before & find they make a huge difference ,but I think I will get over the whining and enjoy all the finer features of this ride , today will take it out for a long ride to get used to the helibars as so far it's only been sitting on the bike in the garage & moving them to find the sweet spot .

Actually they are Delkovic Tri=Ovals (14" or 18", can't remember) and have a slight bark to them. Better than the Singer sewing machine sound of the oem's but not as loud as the GYTR (Yosh) pipes that I had on it before.

Not too HOT.....Not too COLD.....JUST RIGHT!!!

LOL, Singer sewing machine! That is good!

There needs to be a way to hear the pipes on your bike before you buy them!

I don't do web sites, so you code-heads, get after it!! I wanna hear some pipes!

Get a Sena or Cardo for your helmet, put in ear plugs and crank the music. You'll never hear any whining... lol
