New member and first FJR

Hi from Morrisburg Ontario Canada. I rode Harleys for decades but sold my last one in November 2019 and bought a new to me Mustang. Thought my bike days were done. And then came the Spring and an itch I couldn't scratch. A week on autotrader and I was the owner of a mint low mileage 2003 FJR1300. I am in the process of tailoring the ride for my 73 year old road worn body and am astounded by the power and smooth ride. Looking forward to this forum and any tips and stories I gather.

hi and welcome to the owners club since it's a 2003 you should change the cct out for a new one since the old ones failed causing your timing to skip and bend your engine valves and do a lot of damage you can check if the cct has a colored dot on it its located on the right side top of the engine this is a must change on these bikes apart from that enjoy your mint 2003 fjr!

Cyborg,

The FJRs are great bikes. Most riders will one day change the seat and/or windshield, for serious touring. It's a comfort thing.

As for the Cam Chain Tensioner, check here:

The old CCTs were not strong enough, really, but it's not serious if you catch it before it fails.

Good riding ahead . . .

.

Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
