Hi there

Hello everyone,

I wanted to say hi and thank you.
Iíve been lurking for a while and learning lots about my Ďnewí bike, so thought it was long overdue for me to say hello.

Moments before the Covid lockdown I managed to get a 2002 gen 1 home in my garage.
The bike was a one owner that I knew needed a little tlc to bring it back to a decent ride.
My original plan was to tear it down over the winter to help pass the time until the sun came back around.
Silver linings and all that I spent a month or so during my spare time (essential worker so no time off work since March) stripping the bike to a frame and engine so I could check, clean, grease or replace whatever needed attention.
Replaced all the service items you would normally do on a bike you donít really know, plus thanks to you guys I knew to pay special attention to the shock linkage (what fun that was!) and replacement of the cam chain tensioner, which was just in time judging by the before and after engine noise (wish Iíd made a recording now as the difference is pretty remarkable).

Anyway guys and gals thanks for having me and if I can help anyone out with bits Iíve picked up Iíll chime in whenever I can.
All the best,
Tony

Congrats on all that, and kudos for recognizing the CCT needed replacing ASAP. You just saved yourself thousands.
Where are you located... sounds like across the pond....

Hi Ray,
Good eye, Iím in North East of England.
Iím pretty sure it was a couple of your posts actually that really encouraged me to tackle the CCT swap, so a special thanks to you for that.
I thought it was worth it just for the peace of mind and that was my original justification for the cost, but after hearing the reduction in engine noise I was super relieved to have taken the time.
Cheers, Tony
