New Michigan Member 2007 FJR

Hello there folks. I’m a long time lurker and new member on here.

I had been in the market for something new as I quickly outgrew my beginner bike. An 86 Kawasaki 454 LTD. It just wasn’t ideal for me and my girlfriend riding two up or extended expressway trips.

A couple months ago I picked up an 07 FJR with just over 22k on the clock. Already had 1” bar risers. Throttlemeister bar ends. Beowulf exhaust. A touring shield. And a GIVI E55NV trunk with their mounting bracket.

Since then I’ve added F2 LED headlights and T. rex cages front and rear. I’m loving this bike and can’t wait to put more miles on her.

I do quite like that color. It changes so much depending on how the light hits it. Unfortunately it makes it impossible to find replacement parts in the same color!

Welcome to this addictive forum. After 1 year of owning the 2007 FJR I'm still amazed how quick this bike is.

Welcome to the sandbox. You might have a hard time keeping up with the red '14s. Haha!

I only weigh 165 pounds! Proper diet and exercise is one of the best performance mods for your bike!

Ha! you are the exact weight that Yamaha FJR suspension designers set the suspension to on the ES's. That's why when I ride my fastest red, I set the suspension up for 2 riders rather than one. By the way, the reason why the '14's are red, the firetruck factory next door went out of business, so Yamaha said why not! LOL The red's also clear out the speed traps as they are sooo fast.

But I agree with you, diet and exercise is the best performance farkle.

Congratulations, enjoy your young (22k) FJR. Many put that much on the first year. She's got a long way to go, I see cross country rides in your future. MI is a great starting place cause you are halfway there already!

It actually had about 21,500 on it when I got it. Shes at about 23,500 now. No real trips yet. A few 250 mile day rides and commuting to work (6 miles each way). I plan on riding it up to the 100k mark before replacing it. By then we will see if these are still in production or not. But it will likely get replaced by a late model 2016+ with low mileage at that time.
