My Motorbikes.

Here is a selection of photographs of every motorbike that I have owned in my entire riding career, from 1966 to the present, 54 years of continuous ownership. On average, I ride about 25,000 Km per year, which gives a total of 1,350,000 Km, or 34 times around the World.

Not all of the bikes in my pictures are actually my bikes, because in the early years, I either didn't have a camera, or lost the pictures. So, I pinched similar pictures off the internet.

The first 9 pictures are bikes that I owned in Rhodesia between 1966 and 1981, though the ninth, the BMW R90S, I took with me when I emigrated to Australia. They were all well and truly second hand when I got them, so, when I got to Australia, I swore that all my future bikes would be new, and so they were.

In Australia, I owned a further 15 new bikes, and I'm still riding, hopefully for many more years. I have always owned road bikes, but for about 20 of those years, I also owned a dirt bike for weekend trail riding. My present bike is classified as an "Adventure Bike", but I find that it is too big, heavy, and expensive to thrash around in the dirt.

I had a friend that owned the Kawasaki Voyager. He got so mad because I could pull away from him going up a steep climb on my 1980 Goldwing with Vetter fairing and bags. I also got way better gas milage.

Started street riding in 1965 and been pretty much a daily rider ever since. Owned 34 street bikes if I counted right, plus raced motocross from 1972-1982 so had quite a few MX bikes not listed (all Yamahas). Worked in the MC industry from 1972-1989. Since 2014 I have averaged 25,000 miles a year, but only averaged 11,000 miles a year for the 24 years before that. Before that it was probably in the 20,000 mile a year range since I was commuting by bike during that time. Didn't keep records until 2008 but since them I have kept accurate records of my mileages and which bike got ridden (had as many as 6 bikes at one time..but down to 3 now) and since 2014, how many days a year I have ridden ... (average 300 days..most was 338 in 2017, but this year I have only missed 8 days so far, so it could be a record year..potentially 357..wouldn't that be sweet). Not bad for living in a snow belt state eh?

Bikes I've owned:

HARLEYS: 65 M50,59 XLCH, 49 56 & 57 Pans, 94 XLCH

HONDAS: 66 CB160, 67 CL77, 68 CB350, 73 CB350F, 67 CB450, 76 CB750, 85 VF1100, 00 CB750, 06 ST1300, 13 CB1100, 14 CB1100, 14 CB500X

SUZUKI: 76 GT750, 81 GS850G, 83 GS1100E

YAMAHA: 72 LT100, 73 RD350, 73 TX650, 79 XS650, 81 XS650, 04 FZ1, 01 FZ1, 06 Majesty, 08 Majesty, 2018 FJR 1300

BSA 69 750 Rocket 3

I come from a motorcycling family. Dad rode, mom rode, out of 5 siblings all 3 of the boys and 1 of the girls rode, my wife rides, our son rides, his wife rides, their 2 sons ride, both her parents ride, all kinds of nephews and grand nephews ride, so riding is sorta normal/expected in our family.

It doesn't matter what I ride, where I ride, how fast I ride, or how far I ride... it only matters THAT I RIDE...EVERY DAY. "Ferret"
