If you're willing to repaint, all of the years saddle bags will fit. Garrauld (spelling?) can repaint to any year.

Ludwig,
Are you saying any year FJR 1300 saddle bags fit any year FJR bike? 2018 bags will fit 2005 bike? If so, very interesting and strange they didnt change them over the years.

That's exactly what he's saying. Just color changes over the years

You might think it strange. I see it as dropping the cost of the bike by not re-developing something that works.

I'm not sure there aren't differences in the reflectors or rubber strips. But those are purely cosmetic and you can swap the rubber strips easily enough. The reflectors....

Garrauld will repaint for $100/lid if you find other years and want to convert them. I think 2004 bags on a 2005 would look fine. But everyone has different taste.

I used 2004 (Cerulean Silver) bags on my 2007 (Black Cherry) as "I might wind up damaging these in some way so here's some beaters" and they didn't really look too out of place

They should fit. It might be a color combination you like or don't like.

I keep thinking about getting my fairing and tailpiece painted yellow, leaving the front fender, windshield bracket, tank, saddlebags, and trunk rack blue. Some people would hate that combination. I think it would look fine. Wearing yellow gear - jacket and helmet - has GREATLY cut down on how often I honk at unobservant cagers. An acquaintance with a yellow Goldwing told me he never has had to honk at unobservant cagers when riding that but has to honk all the time on his black cruiser.

So asking me about colors is risky. Not only might I have unusual tastes, I am color deficient. Not quite color blind (deuteranomalous, not deuteranopic), but close.
