2014 FJR For Sale

I am going to sell my 2014 FJR. It has something over 22K on it. After market windshield ( forget the brand ), Roadsmart Tires with about 5K on them. All fresh fluids, all balls steering head bearings, top trunk, color matching side covers. $7500 or best offer. I'll post some pictures in a few days, but it looks like any other 2014 red. Delkevic slip ons. Quiet, with just a little throaty. I sold the stock ones.

Where is the bike located?

Swing arm pivots lubed?

Brake & clutch hydraulics reconditioned? (Specifically, page 7-8 of FJR MOM.)

Thanks!!!

Could you elaborate on this? I don't have the FSM, just the generic version but I don't see anything in there about this procedure.

From the FJR1300 Motorcycle owner's manual, on page 8 of chapter 7, Yamaha specifically states:

- Hydraulic brake and clutch systems:
== After disassembling the brake or clutch master cylinders, caliper cylinders or clutch release cylinder, always change the fluid. Regularly check the brake and clutch fluid levels and fill the reservoirs as required.
== Replace the oil seals on the inner parts of the brake or clutch master cylinders, caliper cylinders and clutch release cylinder every two years.
== Replace the brake and clutch hoses every four years or if cracked or damaged.

Basically, I'm asking if this required service has ever been performed.

Let's see if I can attach an image of that page of the FJR1300 MOM...

Similarly, for the swingarm bearings and steering bearings, Yamaha calls for a regrease every 16000 miles or 24 months. Even if the bike isn't ridden, the grease dries out and is no longer effective.

Oh, woe is me! I used a 15 year old tub of Bel-Ray waterproof grease when installing my tapered steering bearings!

Not going to lose any sleep over it.

I tip my hat to you, sir.

Now what about those brakes that you're riding? Do they see any love?

But, really, this thread is about the sale of one particular bike, and details regarding that one particular bike. I did answer another reader's question in this thread, which does take us slightly off-topic. Let's not stray entirely off into the weeds.

There are a number of items in the manual that generate revenue for dealers...... and I don't know of one motorcycle owner who has ever replaced caliper seals and brake hoses in those frequencies or greased swingarm bearings every two years. There is such thing as being practical and being experienced to know what needs done and what doesn't.
