RTE! BBQ; Ayden, NC; Sat 5/23

RTE from Sheetz in Asheboro, NC to Skylight Inn BBQ in Ayden, NC. Meetup at 9:45am-ish, leave out 10am-ish.

We may be eating in the parking lot but what the heck. Plan is to jet across US64, then southeast from Raleigh, about 165 miles. Should be there around 1 pm if anyone wants to meet there. Right now we gots us 3 FJRs and a Harley with cruise control, always room for more. More leisurely ride back across 13 to 70 to NC42.

PM if you'd like my cell# to meet up somewhere else, for updates, etc.

Chad the Harley Guy couldn't make it so we had 4, all FJRs- an '06, my '07, an '08 and a '13. Good ride though it did turn hotter than I (we) had expected. We were looking at 83-84*F forecast but rode in near-90 a good part of the day. In July we beg for a 90 day but in the spring we're not well acclimated yet so it did become a common complaint later in the day. But we lived, had some fine bbq, a good ride and great company. For me about 325 miles, more for others as they had to travel some extra.

Russ, sounds like you guy’s had a good one, any of the guy’s in the photo’s from here ?

Kinda hoping if things get better on my end that I’ll be able to do some of these things and put faces with names, it’d be great.

Yep, all of the other 3 are on this forum. The '06 and '08 about 40 mins. from me, the '13 a bit closer. Chad the HD guy is about 10 mins. We text among ourselves and post up for all to join if they can. We've found this best- just make a plan and let others know. If folks can go they will. Trying to make a plan to please everyone just results in inaction. We all understand how it is. Plus we seem to enjoy each others company. We talk bikes, what works for the individual, and much ribbing about whatever, etc.

Also got some suggestions for future RTEs. North Wilkesboro and Mt Airy, NC.

Was a Great ride Russ, and Even though I don't eat BBQ often, man that was a good sandwich. Excellent choice.
I ended with about 440 miles for the day and was not to overly beat up when I got home. Gotta love these bikes.

And yea the heat surprised me as well! Cooler temps in the higher elevations next go around!
