Huntingdon, WV July/Aug 2020

You guys know me, I like to plan in advance .

Hoping to head to Huntington, WV this July or August for a long Fri-Mon weekend. One other, my buddy Rob the Indian Guy is confirmed. He's been pretty reliable for the 10 or so yrs we've taken summer rides. Ken the HD Guy I'm not sure about yet.

It's very early in the plan so I haven't looked at routes or places. We've been up that way a couple times, there's not really any bad roads to be had. One ride, probably Saturday is to Columbus, OH. There's a bucket list item there plus 5 or so Diners, Drive Ins and Dives places there for lunch. Everything else we'll be winging it unless someone has a suggestion of a must see or do. https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/vie....php?f=34&t=27

Everyone is of course welcome to join us if you can. We're leisurely riders but to each his own. I'll be posting specifics as Rob, Ken & I figure them out. Our general rules:

- ride your ride;
- some folks may choose to NOT be ATGATT. If this bothers you please reconsider attending, no one wants to be lectured about how to dress. To each his own.
- no leaders, just chilled riders. I'll have Garmin waypoints & maybe routes but we're all experienced enough to figure out where we're going.
- ride your ride.
- we choose NOT to drink alcohol when riding. Your bike, your choice, we don't care, but we do reserve the right to avoid you if we feel like it. After the day, at the pool or in the parking lot, is another matter .
- bike doesn't matter, everyone is welcome so bring the wife, kid, mistress, boyfriend. Whatever. Who am I to judge ?
- we may break into smaller groups of riders so it's less stressful for everyone. Everyone is invited to go his/her/its own way if the group thing ain't your thing.
- ride your ride.
- someone try to remember some "Hello my name is" labels and a sharpie. I always forget .
- I plan for stuff for me and my regular riding buds, no one's feelings will be hurt if someone comes but does different stuff. To each his/her/its own. We chill. Ride some, rest some, eat & drink some, repeat. It's vacation, we relax.

Sounds like a fun ride and my kind of people. However I'm not sure what my plans are for this riding season. I'll definitely keep it in mind.👍

We wholeheartedly encourage folks to jump in & out as needed. We're not offended at all, we all know life gets in the way sometimes. Plus it's pretty early for folks outside of the 3 or 4 of us regulars to plan so far in advance. We're all kind of loners without a big ball-n-chain called grandkids so other than Ken we just plan around work and vacation schedules.

Since we're planning a leisurely ride to Columbus, OH someone mentioned to kill some time and do some actual trying on of accessories to visit Iron Pony Superstore. We have nothing around us down here like that so maybe. Whatever. It's vacation, we relax.

I dont know if I can make the ride, but a couple suggestions. Definitely go to Iron Pony if you go up to Columbus, OH, it is a Walmart sized motorcycle store, you can spend hours there. There are some great roads in Eastern Kentucky, any back road to Carter Caves State Park or Louisa would be good choices. Have fun and let me know if you are riding toward Lexington for a day.

I'm just funnin', don't anyone get his/her/its panties in a wad. Looking at a leisurely ride, if we cross into KY by Huntington, WV and head south or southwest-ish, this is the first bridge back across.

So far my plans are the to & from, pictured below. Ride up the green to meet Ken the HD Guy, then the purple to Huntington. Return home on the blue, heading due east to drop Ken off then head south to the bottom of the green line to home.

No worries, all is good. I have been over that way a few times, never actually had crossed into WV, so I had not noticed.

Might be careful about poking fun at people there... and a boy named Sue.

* * Just hanging around until I can ride with Petey, Mack and Rock again. Never forgotten. * *

Sounds good

Russ, Havent ridden with you in forever, and this looks good to me. I grew up 2 hours from there in North Central WV and I can certainly offer some great riding routes. My Brother owns a farm 2 hours away in north central WV also, pretty sure we could cruise up there eat some farm fresh grub and then hit some fantastic back roads.
I have a weekend getaway with my Brother and 2 sons sometime around July or August To A cabin in the Shenandoah area for some fishing and kayaking, it's depending on one son I havent heard back from yet and his schedule.
