For those of you who can stay thru Monday, looking at this run for Monday - which should be a GREAT riding day. Total of about 350 miles.

Montrose thru Hotchkiss, over McClure Pass to the Aspen area (eat lunch at Smoke BBQ in Basalt), then thru Aspen and over Independence pass (12,000'), then down to Poncha Springs and back to Montrose.

Route here:

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE IN AND WE'LL SET UP A MEETING TIME AND PLACE FOR MONDAY MORNING!

Hi Scott

I am assuming Sunday is a washout for a ride. We may just stick around for a Monday ride and break off for Colorado Springs halfway thru.

Let me know what you are thinking as far as a meeting place and time for Monday.

Even with the rain it's been a great trip. Have met a lot of nice people.

We were able to ride Black Canyon this morning and didn't get hit with rain until we were returning.

Heading for denver on Monday but should be able to go as far as basalt for lunch. Hopefully there will be something on Sunday also, feel bad i didn't make the effort today as i thought the rain would be worse.

GreyMule and DubFJR,

At this time I am definitely planning the Monday ride, even if it's just one other rider going with me. If you have to break off for Denver or the Springs en route, that's fine. Stay tuned here and by tomorrow (Sunday) I'll work out a firm meeting time and place once we know fer sure who is going. I'm leaning towards an 8 a.m. meet at the Safeway gas pumps. It's about 3 hours to Basalt so we could do lunch at Smoke BBQ there around 11 a.m. More to come...............

Indeed, you can do the partial loop with us and then go east on 285 to 24 when you hit Buena Vista.

RIDERS!!! Please let me know if you're still wanting to do a Sunday ride. Weather looks like it might be sort of "okay" and we can do a shorter ride over Grand Mesa (about 165 miles or so) or something else, but I need to hear from folks. You know how to reach me!

Sounds good for the Sunday ride. We will be here for sure anyway. Let us know where you want to meet and the time. We will plan to be there.

Tomorrow (Sunday): 1:00 p.m. - meet at the gas pumps at Safeway for a 165 mile ride over Grand Mesa and back. HOWEVER, forecast right now calls for 80% chance of thunderstorms. If so, I will not be there; as most of you know, I don't ride in the rain.

MONDAY: 8:00 a.m. at the Safeway gas pumps for a 350 mile loop over McClure pass to lunch at Smoke BBQ in Basalt, then down thru Aspen and over Independence pass, to Salida/Poncha Springs, and back to Montrose over Monarch Pass.

We wonít be joining you tomorrow for we did ride over Grand Mesa today. It was great and to those who havenít done this; we had to layer up on top for there was a 30 degree temperature range from when we left Montrose.
