Interestingly, Sweden switched from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic, which took place at 5 am on Sunday, Sept 3, 1967, and the accident rate fell sharply after the change. But it soon rose back to it's previous level.

Wow Ed, wonder why that was? Seems like it would have been bad for a while and then leveled out after people got used to it. Just can’t predict this stuff I guess.

I actually remembered hearing about it on the news and had to go look it up. When I found it was in 1967 I was shocked it was 51 years ago. I remember stuff like that and can't remember what I had for breakfast.

The general consensus at the time was that everyone was just so careful that the accident rate was reduced until they got used to it and started driving like they did before again.
