Andy1300, it’s a little late now that you’ve bought your bike (very nice indeed) but if you’d have asked before you bought I would;be recommended a 2014 fastest color red bike ! Simply put, they are soooooo fast that they simply outrun the wind noise ! You’ll have to ride the brakes for it to catch up ! Really ! I wouldn’t lie about this, totally true 😁😁😁😁.

"Ignorance is bliss" as they say. It's really a matter of Yamaha not providing the Root Beer FJR's to the US, while Canada and the EU benefited. Perhaps Yamaha's market research for the year 2014 revealed a flashy red would sell, and that they wanted them to have greater exposure. The only way to ensure that was to slow them down a tad... IF only Steve could ride a Root Beer...... sigh.
I guess I can only give him a pic of mine the day I brought it home.....

And just to prove I am not biased against red, just the shade of red. Let's go back a few years of the proud day I brought this one home. That was equally as fast as the Root Beer.

I think I'd pick red over brown most days.

When they introduced the 07 in that wine/maroon/dark red it really set me off, I really, really wanted one but other parts of the house didn’t agree ! I talked about it enough that one of the guy’s I worked with took his charge card and bought one because of my talking about it, i was so p/o’d. He had no idea of what he had and dropped it multiple times in the first week and scratched it all up. Beautiful bikes !

And seriously I don’t understand why mama Yamaha didn’t bring the root beer here, it’s a good color on the bike ! In spite of them being slower an all that you know . Ray,in the picture of yours above it appears that it has a silver rear rack and is different than the normal plastic POS. Is that correct ?

I think I'd pick brown over red. Red vehicles never have tickled my fancy. Black Cherry/Burgundy tops them all.

Andy consider this great windscreen, the best 250bucks I ever spent:

https://www.fjrowners.com/forums/10-...indscreen.html

and yes some helmets are noisy, I find my Schuberth C3 to be very noisy when front vent flap is open, with my Vstream I ride with the helmet clear visor full open, drop-down tinted visor (down), and screen at "just looking over" screen position, not a puff of wind

Had the deflector on my Connie 1400, didn't like it at all, plus it would shake a bit at high speeds

Good thread. Great info on this site!

As someone else said i'd like to risk $30 before dropping a lot more. Revzilla has an "MRA X-Creen Tour Bolt-On to Clamp Mount Conversion Kit" for $28 - anyone tried that? (too new to post links).

Also, is there a Gen II Yamaha Touring windscreen? I've seen VStreams, but is there a Yammie one? my searching keeps taking me to a Gen III version on Partzilla, but i don't believe 2's and 3's share screens?

These are clamps ONLY !!!

MRA X-Creen Tour Bolt Mount Conversion Kit
Convert your MRA X-Creen Tour Bolt-on to an X-Creen Tour Clamp-on.
Note: Windscreen Blade not included (sold separately)

A full set is up to $160, and for that kind of money, get a Vstream (or other) full replacement
screen at $179
