Zumo 395 How to re track 'Where I've been'

Hi Chaps
I have a Garmin Zumo 395 and would like re track the ride out I did with some friends the other week using the 'Where I've Been' app.
I can see the route using the date dropdown, I did somehow give it a name and put it in Trip Planner but when using the route , we had to do a detour due to a road closure the satnav recalculated and instead of putting us back on route , just tried to take us straight to the end destination. Is there another way of doing this , so the Zumo will keep us on the saved route?
Thanks Al

Use Russ's link, best place for those questions.
While not knowing your planned route, I would suspect not enough waypoints or shaping points to keep you on track.
