Lightbulb :..Regular gas fuel pricing..:

Have a friend who lives in north central Arkansas and has regular gas prices at $1.40.

I live in SE Indiana and our prices are $1.85 - $1.95

I'm seeing mid to high $1.7x in the Houston area.

As the regulars know, I have three bikes. My Ducati averages about 36mpg and uses premium. My Superduke GT averages about 44 and uses premium. My FJR averages about 49 and uses regular. I ride a LOT since I retired about 15 months ago.

While I'm living very comfortably I am trying to save money where I can. I rode a total of 38,000 miles in 2019, so saving where I can is helpful. The FJR makes that pretty easy. A 300 mile day, very common for me now' costs $11-12 dollars. That's a good thing. I'm also finding ways to get better tire life without compromising handling - I ride pretty hard. Last year I bought 11 tires!

Kinda stunned that Houston being so close to the refinery's wouldn't have better prices.

I have family down in southern MO and they are like Arkansas...always very low prices.

Must be a state tax thang..?

I am in Ontario, Canada. Gas Buddy says the cheapest gas in the Province is $0.619/litre yet we pay close to double that in the northern part of the Province. Same Province, same taxes. I guess transportation is really expensive or we're being gouged. I believe the latter.

Plot Indiana vs most almost anywhere else and note how erratic. Indiana suffers from having too few major distributors which allows one to raise prices and the others say, "why not?"

$1.83/gal yesterday while out getting critter feed. Between wife's job shutdown, my WFH, and IL shelter in place order, I expect to not need any fuel for weeks unless I can manage to get out on bike, but it's snowing again today.

Was $2.21 in NJ yesterday. We went from the cheapest gas in the country to some of the most expensive when we jacked to gas tax a couple of years ago.
