Picked up my 2014 yesterday

Went up to the dealer in Tokyo to get this yesterday. Had 530 KM (330 miles) on it. Very clean!
(They don't sell the FJR in blue or red here, so far as I know, but I like this gray anyhow.)
The dealer set the display panels to English, which was a good thing, but will need to download an ENG manual to understand all the options.
Glad to be back on an FJR!

My 2011 had panniers but it was an EU model. It seems that most of them are shipped without bags here. If I want to order the bags, it is doable for $1400.00, dealer says.

Sliders or full-on crash bars. . . thinking on it.

Best find a set of used bags, and paint to suit if necessary.

Or maybe the smaller city-style bags, maybe save a few yen.

Congrats!

I am not sure about the level of royalty the FJR enjoys, but yeah, it is up there. There is a substantial Harley following here and a Beemer clique too (among the older and better-heeled). Then there are the "classic Harley" (fixer-upper) aficionados too.
And that group goes touring in a different way (see photo)

I wonder how much oil has to be carried in the "luggage".
