You're a sweetheart, thanks, but not at all interested. The attached pic of riding and exploring is an example of more my style.

Works for me ... seems like a good plan

I'm just happy to see others riding.

The people who actually take part in true endurance events are rare, even among motorcyclists and the activity is not well understood. Reactions vary from WOW! to "that can't possibly be safe and you should be banned".

So while I don't feel the slightest bit defensive about my riding, I do try to help people understand and, if they are interested, help them get started.

2,300 miles last week. Started at 3 AM on Thursday morning, drove 800 interstate miles and got to Chicago Ill. at 5 PM to pick up a Time Out camper I bought off Ebay. Spent the next couple of days visiting a long lost granddaughter and traveling to Front Royal, Virginia where the Skyline Drive starts, and then the next 3 days riding and camping the Skyline, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and then home to Greenville, SC. on Wed. around 6 PM.

Rbentnail would commiserate with me as a very painful left hip kept me from really enjoying the ride as much as I might have, though there were some really beautiful and peaceful times during the trip.

I guess I will keep my rides local for a while.

Indeed I can! I haven't forgotten the misery so soon. I was up on the BRP the other day and met 2, maybe 3 other vehicles in 45 minutes. Very peaceful.

On my old 90 cbr1000 it was 218 miles when I was 19. Can’t wait to try a 500mile on the fjr. However Florida sucks to tour.

Maybe so but a great place to visit for a little while. I was last there in 2009, been itchin' for a return trip. Had 2 stopovers east coast each way with a couple days in the Keys in between. Never seems to be enough time or money nowadays. The best part I think was...... that was the first time an "internet friend" put me up for a night without having met me prior. A comfy couch and a crockpot of stew goes a long way with a stranger traveling solo for 9 days.

Toronto to Nova Scotia , then Cape Breton, all around the Cabot trail and the island , and then back in 7 days ( one rest day while out there ) for 5,000 Kms , and on the original crummy seat. Shortly after hunted the web for an RDL ... much happier 👍

I never went thru a mini bike or dirt bike stage. When I was 15 (1970) I learned how to work a cluch on a Suzuki 50 and in 1973 bought a 1974 500 Kawasaki as my 1st bike. I was hooked on drag and street racing. Yes I rode with my racing buddies but that was mostly around town so a big day was a 100 miles. I could never do corners and really never wanted to. I quit all group rides when the kids thought every corner on the country roads was a race track and every weekend someone crashed. The IB riding I do not want to do and just rode by myself for what seems like forever now. I worked all the time and a 100 mile hiway trip around the outskirts of St Louis once every couple weeks was my only riding time. I finally retire and hook up with BTL68 and get a sore ass (in a non-homo kind of way). He is the kind that rides 100 miles for a burger then figures where to go from there without being on an interstate. I started riding with him about this time last year and have put 5000 on my FJR. The FJR kinda spoils one and makes one want to put some miles on it. I survived a 500 mile day but that may be my limit on the country roads.
