Well, we're into the third day since the bad wind storm that blasted my caravan and tried to rip my awning to bits. The awning mostly survived, except for one of the big side zips that burst for the third time this year, it's so annoying.

I have a very good weather mapping program called "VentuSky" on my computer, and it recorded wind gusts up to 190 Kph on top of the Western Tiers near here, that's cyclone strength. I have been for a couple of short rides since then, and there are still crews out there clearing big trees that have blown down across the roads. Here are a couple of shots of the Tiers with snow on top.

I know that I have shown photos of this area many times, but I just feel so lucky and privileged to be able to ride on these fantastic roads, in this magnificent scenery, any time I want. And better yet, there is almost no traffic at this time of year, I think I saw 6 cars and 3 motorbikes in the whole 90 Km.

But there was some excitement. When I pulled onto the B14 road (see map) at Lower Barrington, I was behind a Subaru thing, and quite happy to sit there, then I saw that our speed was getting unusually high, and I thought. "Hello, this guy is trying to race me". Well, I'm still a juvenile at heart, so I passed him doing 180 in fifth gear, then changed into sixth in front of him and accelerated away. You've got to love this Super Tenere.

My travels continue too Bernie. Saturday the road wound way down yonder to Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest. It's in a section of the state much of which is preserved for it's beauty and uniqueness. Unfortunately it was closed to visitors, but what the heck, it was only 88*F and cloudless. Very nice day for riding. As I was riding I passed a sign I'd never seen before, not even on a map, so I had to u-turn and check it out. I think it's a very old section, Bladen Lakes State Forest. Then on to some of my fave barbecue pork, been there since '47. About 415 miles on the day, mostly flat, but a very nice day in all.

This damnable rain just won't stop, I haven't been able to get out for a ride for 6 days, but at last it calmed down a bit, so I got into my Dririders, and did a circuit of my usual race track. I stopped in Sheffield for a welcome coffee and scones.

Every pond, ditch, creek, and river out there is full to bursting point. The roads were all wet and running with water, but the "Michelin Road 5 Trail" tires on my bike were most impressive, not a hint of a slide or wriggle anywhere, it was almost like I was riding on dry roads. Of course, I wasn't trying to drag my knees in the corners, but I was going faster than all the cars that I met.

A most enjoyable ride.

At last, a perfect day after weeks of bad weather. I took a ride out to Cradle Mountain hoping that the automatic boom gate would let me through to the car park at Dove Lake, but no, I was too late, the car park was full, again.

So I consoled myself with delicious scones and coffee at Moina, and stopped at a few places for photographs. Enjoy.

Good to see you didn't get washed away! We too had horrible thunderstorms & wind, Sunday thru Wednesday, every day. Not much else going on, no riding today. We got us a birthday/margarita party this afternoon

Finally got a break in the weather, went for a bit of a ride. Some country, some highway, all dry and another star on the map, #61. Very nice educational state forest, lots of tree tags for guessing age and type, water pollution education, picnic & amphitheater areas, hiking trails, etc. Besides the birds the only other noise I could hear were kids running and playing. Lots of families out & about.
