First trip on my new to me Gen 1

Hey guys had the best trip on this bike! I love this engine and everything else about it. Spent 9 days touring around Oregon, Idaho and Montana hitting some of the best roads we've found and a few more for the first time.

Starting in Portland, OR we went west to the Elkhorn Mountains in the Umatilla National Forest, starting off on the Clackamas River through the desert on many winding roads.

Then the long way to Clarkson WA through Hells Canyon Scenic Byway and Rattlesnake grade, highly recommend.

Then East and North through Idaho on hwy 12 (Great great road, this time we were rained on...) to Bull Lake in Montana.

We stayed at the same campsite for a few days and went up Yaak River and valley,(do not recommend, very rough) lot's of debris on the road from the storm there earlier that we rode through. then Koocanusa. That I highly recommend, worth the whole trip. beautiful very low traffic, fast and fun! The west side is slower but windier and just as fun.

Then we headed south into the Sawtooth mountains in Idaho and camped on the Payette River. Every way we've gone in and out of this area is super fun.

Then we rode into the smoke! Going back into Oregon we found our route closed due to fires so had to slab it for about 40 miles, back to the Elkhorns. The altitude there makes for some cold nights, my buddy saw 28 deg F on his gauges when we woke! But it warmed up soon enough.

Coming home we were going to do similar to our way out but it all burned down or is on fire, including Estacada. So we took 14 on the Washington side of the Columbia, fun road but the smoke limited visibility to the point we stopped passing closer to home.

I took lots of video and started a channel so my buddies can watch them, hopefully this link will work if anyone wants to watch them...

The pictures are us leaving Portland, at a stop in Montana, near Yaak Montana, on the Koocanusa, Kootenai River, and Bull Lake.

Ya Ray me to.

And there were two VFRs on the trip, one 99' and one 05'...

Forgot to mention we were originally going to California but it's on fire. So next year Sierra Mountains and Klamath National Forest...

While we were gone there was a stage one evacuation alert in Portland.
