3250 miles and no complaints

My son purchased a 2006 FJR about a month ago. I have a 2008 I've owned for about 3 years.

So - last week we took a trip. We went clockwise from MN to IA, NE, CO, WY, MT, SD, and back.

So many mountains. So much 2-lane. A few interstates when it couldn't be helped. Both bikes were FLAWLESS and it was just "check air, check oil, add gas" every day.

These are amazing machines.

FWIW the mask protocols were pretty solid in every state we hit. WY and MT might have been the weakest, but it was still pretty good.

10/10 would do it again. 3250 miles in 7 days.

Glad you guys had a nice ride! Have been on many of the 2 lanes you did many times. Did you have any issues with accommodations in the evening or did you sleep under the stars?

Accommodations were simple and straightforward. It was surprising to roll into TWO different Motel6's in Billings, MT and find they were full. We upgraded to Howard Johnson's and did not regret it, though. Pretty SWANK after Motel6.

Went on a 5 day , 4 night north / west Ontario trip . Started in Etobicoke, and went as far north as hiway 11 goes , then headed west . Got to Kenora, then turned around and came back. Two nights under the stars ( at a very cool 8* at night ) and two nights in motels .. total approx 4100kms , and the FJR was flawless , yet again .. the V Strom was my brothersí who joined me .

Curious, how did the ECU manage the different altitudes?

I know it is supposed to compensate, on the fly, but did it?

I only wonder as I live in Texas, and I will never have to worry about that! Sea-level to 400 ft!

Could not tell any different ..so yes it must do it seamlessly ... and really only noticed one afternoon of a drop in mileage but that was going into strong headwinds .

The nice thing about those temps.......... no bugs!! I did a trip up to northern Mn. about a month ago and was eaten alive between the bike & getting in the cabin.

Ahh, OK...A quick search converts that to around 46* F. Agree, still nippy, but I'll have to recover the 'grizzled card' for now.
