Trip to Glacier National Park

We made the 3,600 mile round trip to Glacier National Park from Southeast Iowa in 5 days. We rode just over 1,000 miles to Sheridan, WY the first day. We took a detour to ride over to Cody, WY and up the Beartooth Highway and then up to Missoula, MT on the second day. We went up to Glacier and then back to Billings the 3rd day. On the 4th day we rode Route 212 by the Little Bighorn Monument and then down to Devil's tower. We ended up riding through a pretty rough storm near Rapids City and got hailed on. We made it to Mitchell, SD and had the shortest ride for day five back to Iowa. I saw some of the nicest scenery I've seen in my life and definitely got my fill of riding for the week!!

You definitely hit some beautiful areas of the country. Beartooth is my wife's favorite road in the whole country.

That is a remarkable five days, in magnificent scenery! I've ridden through those areas a couple of times, albeit at a more relaxed pace.

Thanks for sharing! I used to live in Nebraska and have ridden some of those same areas. We are a long ways from our respective home states, no?! Did you travel NE going west or scoot up to SD and take 90? Glad you are home safely!

I hope you stopped at he road side cherry stands around glacier, those cherries never make it this far before they get eaten up.

Zounds, you saw in ton in a very short time. We live about half way between Glacier and the Beartooth and would take that long to ride both. We attend a BMW rally just out side Red Lodge most years and ride the Beartooth Pass a couple of times.

I love riding out there. Contrasts where you ride in the plains (think hot) and hit the mountains (think cooler), and everything in between. Lots of vistas. Been in Glacier 4 times, Beartooth three, and even ran across a Pterodactyl a coupla times. All good!

I wouldn't have minded a more relaxed pace as well, but we were trying to take as few days off as possible! There was plenty up there to see to make it a 2-3 week trip!

Sadly, we did not, but we passed by the farms next to Flathead lake. I bet they are amazing!
