I'm considering getting custom seats made which requires sending in the OEM front and rear seats for modification so that they can use the orig seat pan. There really isn't any coming back from that if you end up not liking the final product, so just wondering where I can get replacement stock seats? I'd prefer to get a 2nd set of Yamaha stock seats and send those out for customization.

I bought a corbin seat that comes with its own pan for mine and keep the OEM seat on the shelf.

Jay, what seat are you considering? An option you have given where you live is to do a ride-in appointment to have it made for you on the spot, tweaked until you're happy. You'll pay a bit more but it will be built for your butt. Russell, Mayer come to mind. Later (within time limits), you can always go back for a tweak once you have some miles on it (Russell).

You can always find used FJR seats... Corbins and Sargents have their own pans, and those buyers sometimes part with their OEM seats.

I have a 2018 as a daily ride, have over 20K miles on it. I'm 6'2 and weigh 200lbs. The stock 2018 seat, in my opinion very good. Even with 2-3 hours a day riding.

I tried a custom Corbin seat and it was a disaster. Had to go through my credit card company to get a refund. A far better investment is to get the MV German handle bar risers.

Stock seat FOR ME was an hour max, one of the worst I’ve ever experienced except for the one Corbin I have on my 80 CBX, pretty though ! Absolutely terrible customer service ! Never a consideration for the FJR.��������

I originally bought the Yamaha Touring Gel seat to replace the oe FJR seat and still have it, it’s not a bad seat, it’s good for a 300-400mi day, not nearly as good as my Laam FOR ME but it ain’t terrible ! But I paid nearly the same for it as my Laam, not quite as much but close.

Stock seat is not for me being tall, sliding forward and too narrow. Purchased a used ripped up Sargent I used with beads for a month, liked it enough sent it into be rebuilt with heat last December..
Much better then stock no sliding forward and more padding.

Last month I traded $175.00 and my stock seats for a Laam, no freight we each rode 100 miles so I could try the Laam first, I got lucky the Laam fit me. The Laam is wider and more padding then the Sargent on long trips. I have logged several 300 mile days on the Laam, no butt burn, best seat I have tried so far.
