Servicing

Hi Guys I'm pretty new to biking i have a Gen 1 FJR and will be servicing my own bike for the first time, i recently bought a service kit from Wemoto and it came with flat washers would these be ok to use or do i need crush washers?
Thanks in advance for help.

I have no idea what a “service kit from Wemoto” professes to service.

I have replaced 2 oil drain washers in 45 years. However I wouldn’t do a valve adjustment without a full set of gaskets and o-rings.

20 years ago Toyota used a really nifty fiber/rubber washer. GMC used a flared bolt with recess cut for O-ring. My F-150 uses a big plastic bayonet plug with O-rings.

Perhaps if the OP listed the specific "servicing" he plans on doing along with the specific model and yr he has. My 2007 has the original factory-installed oil drain crush washer. It's never leaked so I've never changed it.

I've never heard of the "service kit from Wemoto" either. Perhaps this -> https://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture...cekit-fjr1300? Get a Haynes manual!! You'll find them for 2013 up but they are really good for newbies.

What bike and location in the signature line would definitely help, looking up Wemoto online I see that they are in England, may be a great supplier there but not known here in the states.

Wemoto are down in the South of England, looking on their website I could not find a service kit for an FJR, only one for an FJ, which would be different I imagine as it was air cooled.

Click the link in post #3 above. That kit is clearly for the FJR1300. I imagine that one stops at 2012 b/c the spark plugs changed with the 2013+.

If the flat washer is aluminum, it's the same as Honda uses... they will last you a very long time unless you have a habit of overtorquing. I use them on all my bikes.

Thing about a “service kit from Wemoto” is that few of us would do anything other than glance at such an offer to see if by any chance the bundled parts were lower in cost than the individual. $100? Looks more than I would expect especially with an unknown brand of oil.

Additionally replacement of spark plugs and air filter is a very infrequent service.
