coolant change question

I need to change the coolant on my '13 and watched a video wherein the guy took off both sides of the fairing. Is this necessary? or can I just take off the left side? Thanks, JD

"quick and easy coolant change".
You do not need to remove any fairings....

No need to remove either side fairing on a gen 3 bike. You do need to pull the left fairing insert(the piece that’s adjustable for exhausting engine heat) to get the overflow tank out for cleaning, as well as the left inner cowl(which is easy once you pull the inner front cowl) to get to the radiator cap.

As well as the bolt that is under the side vent(you will see it once vent piece is removed.
This will allow fairing to flex out enough for access

Once you remove the vent panels and one (Gen3) or two screws underneath, and glove box panel you can flex the fairing out to access the rad cap on any Gen. Use a scrap piece of 2x4 to hold it outward. Coolant recovery bottle may require moving the lower side fairing out to get at the bolt if you want to remove it/clean/replace.
Fill the reservoir with a syringe and some clear hose.
